What is a medical emergency and what to do?

All the situation where the diagnosis or treatment delay, can bring severe risks or damages to the victim, it is an emergency. For example, severe cases of trauma, acute intoxications, burns, cardiac and respiratory crises. In case of emergency, should go to a Hospital. In case you need explanation or help, contact the 24 Health Line: 808 24 24 24 or your Health Centre.
Is an appointment to regularly monitor the health condition. Some vulnerable population groups, such as children, juveniles, pregnants, elderly, some professional groups and people with chronic disease, need special attention, so they must schedule programmed and periodic appointments to monitor their health.
Follow the surveillance guidelines recommended by the family doctor.
 
Some emergency situations are considered medical emergencies, by the extreme gravity of the situation or because they require telecommunications or special transport for the patient.
 
If the situation is not an emergency or after a emergency situation you need new appointments or medication, you should go to the Health Centre of you residency and know how to proceed to have permission to be entitled to every Health Care services.
 
Yes, there is the 24 Health Line: 808 24 24 24.
 
Yes. The UCC (Urgent Care Centre) always indicates what must be done, accordingly to the situation.
 
You should answer to questions in a simple and clear way and hang up the phone only after the operator indicates.
 
Immediately alert the responsible services, through the 112 number. The phone call, services and transportation are free.
 
In cases of emergency should go to a Hospital, in other situations see how to proceed in your Health Centre.
